Harvest Time

In John 4:35 the Lord Jesus said, "Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."

Many times what we see and what the Lord sees are two different things.  We may be seeing a problem but the Lord sees an opportunity.  We look at things through the natural eye but the Lord looks at it through the spiritual.  We see a field but the Lord sees a harvest.

The key to success and victory is to begin to see things the way the Lord sees them.  In this verse, the disciples were seeing a future harvest and move of God.  Like the disciples, we seem to think in the someday attitude.  Someday we will be blessed...someday we will see the move of God... someday we will be healed...and on and on we go always looking to the future but never experiencing the blessing.

The Lord was teaching the disciples to move their expectations from the future to the present.  When we stop seeing it happening in the future and start seeing it happening now, we move into the realm of faith.

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith is always now.  We must begin to believe that God is now ready to move in our midst and bring in the harvest.

As we look out over the fields of our communities, what do we see?  Do we see much work to be done?  Do we see burnt-over fields that are no longer productive?  Or, do we see a harvest that is ripe and ready to be received?  How we see the fields will determine our attitudes, actions and results.

Let us allow the Lord to open our eyes and cause us to see the harvest.  We must believe that we are now entering into a glorious time of reaping in the great blessings of God. As we move into August, let us do so with our eyes open and seeing the fields as the Lord Jesus sees them.  It is our time to reap in the great harvest of souls, healings, and miracles.
