Put on the New Life

When studying the bible we must learn to distinguish the difference between the legal and vital side of our redemption. Everything Jesus did on Calvary is legally ours. II Corinthians 1:20 says, "For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us." Every promise of God is legally ours, it already belongs to us. When we make Jesus our Lord, all He is and all He has is legally ours and available to us. But just because it is legally ours doesn't mean it will automatically manifest in our lives. We must act on the promise that is legally ours to experience it in our lives. This is the vital part of Christianity.

In this message, I want to teach you two keys to putting on this New Life in Christ so you can vitally experience everything that is legally yours.  This is our time to go beyond just believing God's Word to experiencing it in our lives.

Put on the New Life

I)     We must renew our mind and put to practice our new life in Christ.

A)    II Corinthians 5:17-19 (AMP) - This is legally who we are in Christ.

1)     Ephesians 1:3-7 - This is ours now.

2)     Ephesians 2:4-10 - This is legally what God has done for us in Christ.

In Christ we are: new creations, partakers of His blessings, and raised up in His Authority.

If ALL of this is ours, why isn't it working?

B)   Ephesians 4:17-24 (AMP) - It is our responsibility to put off our old life and put on our new life in Christ.

1)     Romans 13:11-14 - Now more than ever we must put on this new man.

v.14 (AMP) - (Grk) To clothe, sinking into a garment

Every day we choose to either dress like God or dress like the world in how we act and present ourselves.

C)   Ephesians 4:21-23 - Two keys to putting on this new life.

1)    v.23 (AMP) - Constantly renew your mind with God's Word.

a)  James 1:21 - When the Word becomes implanted into your mind and thinking it will change you.

2)    Romans 8:12-14 (AMP) - With the help and power of the Holy Spirit, control your flesh.

v.14 - Be led by the Spirit, not flesh.

The more full of God's Word and The Holy Spirit you become, the greater the transition you will experience.
